What better way to celebrate your favorite guy than with a party he’ll love! We hosted a football party for our almost 9 year old with these simple but impactful birthday decorations.

Boys Birthday Parties
I really can’t answer why but it is so much harder planning a birthday party for boys than it is for girls. Maybe it’s because girls tend to be calmer and will sit and play together and talk and giggle. Boys like to wrestle, run wild and make A LOT OF NOISE.
We came up with the idea for a football party theme for our son because he loves the sport (his team won 1st place this season!) and because there are so many decorations to choose from. Seriously. From baby style to adult man style, football décor is everywhere for parties.
We used just a couple decorations to set the mood in our home to celebrate with friends.

Football Party Decorations
If you’re anything like me, you like to get all your party decorations from one place. That place is usually Amazon, Walmart or Target. For this party, all of our decorations came from Amazon and I was very pleased with all them! I don’t like to go overboard on my party decoration budget when I can help it since everything is only used for a couple hours before being tossed in the garbage.
Balloons
Our balloons for the football party were simple. We purchased these football theme balloons and used green & white balloons to add a little extra flare. I also purchased a number 9 balloon in green! We always like to document birthdays with a photo next to balloons so we’ll be keeping the 9 until his actual birthday for a photo.
I didn’t get a photo but I used these to line the walkway up to our house with balloons so new friends would know where to find us. This might be one of my new go-to décor items for parties.

Ever since my 4th child joined our family I have started to keep a helium tank on standby. I know, that’s an odd sentence but it’s true! With so many birthdays and so many friends birthdays, keeping a helium tank in my closet comes in handy more than you’d think.
This is the one I always use and swear by. The balloons don’t stay floating for more than a day BUT it gets the job done. Be sure to shop around for this tank. It’s priced $40 higher on Amazon right now than it is at Target but that changes quite often.
Other Football Party Décor, Food & Party Favors
The rest of our party can be summed up pretty quickly.
The only other decorations I used were table covers. This honestly was planned because I didn’t want my entryway table that I love to get scratched or marked up by water rings so I knew I needed to cover it. I ordered this 2 pack of table covers and put one in the entryway and one at our dining room table. They honestly added so much fun to the look of our house. I’m so glad I went ahead and purchased these!

The food we served at the party wasn’t anything crazy. We set out a fruit tray, chips, pretzels, a donut & cookie tray and a cooler full of Gatorade, juice boxes and water. We served pizza when the kids needed a break from playing and I made cupcakes to serve as dessert. I purchased these cupcake toppers and called it a day!
The party favors might be one of my favorite party favors ever. They were simple, inexpensive and a hit with all the kids! At the age of 9, I didn’t feel like I could get away with those multi-packs of party favors that everyone seems to throw away as soon as they get home. Instead, I found football Pez dispensers to give to the kids as they left the party!
Sure, the dispenser still gets thrown away as soon as the candy is gone but it felt more appropriate than random toys.
You can find the dispensers here or search amazon for a party pack.
Party Entertainment
The best part of our party wasn’t football themed AT ALL. I tried to find this in a football them but did not succeed. Let me just say that didn’t take away from the party whatsoever!
To celebrate Sawyer turning 9 with his friends, we rented an awesome bounce house & water slide! A local company came and setup everything and I had to drag the kids away from it long enough to get grab a water and have a piece of pizza.
We used Kidz Play Events, which is local to where we live, but you can search bounce house rentals and your city to find companies near you!

If you cannot rent one, you can always buy one! If you are having this party for older kids be sure to purchase a commercial one because the smaller ones are typically for toddler use.
Here is one similar to what we rented.

I put together a quick guide below for those of you who don’t care to read through everything. I get it. Most of the time I am “those of you.”
